One of the more common questions asked is regarding team formation.
Per Centex Committee Rules:
Rule 5) Teams chosen from a pool of 4 teams or fewer may not have more than 5 players from any one team. Teams chosen from a pool of 5 or more teams may not have more than 4 players from any one team. No more than 6 players on the Centex roster can have played on the same team in any non-league game between March 1 and May 13.
Team formation is only from teams that are nominating players.
For example: if your age group and division has 10 teams, but only 4 teams nominate players, the limit is 5 from each team. If your division has 100 teams, but only 4 teams nominate players, the limit is still 5 from each team. In the above examples, if 5 teams nominate players, then the limit decreases to 4 from each team.
THERE IS NO LIMIT ON NUMBER OF TEAMS.
If we have managers and assistant coaches that are willing to coach, then we will form as many teams in each age group and division necessary to help as many players as possible have the opportunity to play in Centex.
NL Managers will be selected by the regular season standings at the time of the NL mid-season tournament. AL Managers will be selected by the regular season standings at the time of the AL mid-season tournament. Managers of those teams have the first right of refusal. This may be changed per the discretion of the Baseball Committee and Board of Directors if they deem necessary or appropriate to ensure the best representation of CPYL.
If there is enough interest for more than 1 team per age group/division, then the 1st place Coach will first choose his team to play in Division 1 in Centex. Any additional coaches will choose their teams via a draft similar to the regular season draft following skills assessment in order to form each team. If only one additional team, no draft is needed. The Centex team Managers will be able to “protect” up to four players from their regular season team. Managers are authorized to carry up to a 12 player roster, but if a manager chooses not to, that will be at their discretion.
