2025 CPYL Softball Tournament Rules

- Tournament Registration Fee $200.00
- Pool games will be played on Saturday. Bracket will also start on
Saturday with Championship games ending on Sunday.
- 8U/12U: September 27-28, 2025
- 6U/10U/14U: October 4-5, 2025
- Umpire Fees are paid at the plate each game based on the following:

6U/8U Pool: $25 per team; Bracket $30 per team

10/12/14U Pool: $55 per team; Bracket $60 per team
- Roster submission will be sent via SportsConnect and will tie into the team registration. Rosters must be
completed in SportsConnect by Friday, September 26, 2025 for the weekend September 27-28 and by Friday,
October 3, 2025 for the weekend October 4-5. Players may NOT be on more than one team roster for this
tournament. Players must be on the team's roster in order to play.
- A Roster and/or an official lineup card can not have double numbers on it unless approved by the Tournament
Director.. For example there can not be two number three on a roster and/or official lineup card.
- Teams will be guaranteed 3 games (1 Pool & 2 Bracket). Brackets are unseeded (blind draw) so teams will know
their pool and 1st bracket game schedules by September 24, 2025 for 8U and 12U and by October 1, 2025 for
6U, 10U, and 14U. Schedules will be posted at QuickScores and
scores will be updated throughout
the tournament.
- The CPYL tournament will follow USA rules and the following rules below will also apply.
- Home team will be determined by a coin flip at the plate in the pregame meeting during pool play and bracket
games, except in the Championship game.
- Home team is responsible for keeping the official scorebook. Teams need to provide their own score book.
- Teams must bat the entire roster in pool games ONLY. Free defensive substitutions in all games and no
position rotation rules.
- Teams must turn in an official line up for pool games and bracket games. Jersey numbers and names must be
the same on the line up and roster.
- Umpires will keep official score cards and must be signed after the game by each team's head coach.
- Runners should avoid contact, if at the umpires discretion there is intentional contact or malicious contact
it will result in the player being called out
- Throwing the bat will result in a warning to the player unless it hits the catcher or the umpire in which
the batter will be called out. On the 2nd occurrence the batter will be called out.
- There will be no combined teams, all exceptions must be approved by the Tournament Director in advance of
the roster submission deadline.
- There are no tournament teams allowed.
- A forfeit will be declared 10 minutes after the start time if a team cannot field the required number of
players. For 6U & 8U the required number of players is 10 but teams can start the game with 8 players and
will take an out at the 9th and 10th batter. For 10U, 12U & 14U the required number of players is 9 but
teams can start the game with 8 and will take an out for the 9th batter
- Each team must supply a game ball. Softballs must be:

6U/8U/10U: Optic yellow 11” balls with a maximum
compression of 375 lbs and max COR of .47

12U/14U: Optic yellow 12” balls with a maximum
compression of 375 lbs and max COR of .47
- Teams are allowed 5 runs per half inning or 3 outs, whichever comes first.
- Run Rule; 15 run lead after the 3rd inning, 10 run lead after the 4th inning or team is mathematically out
- Tournament Game Times:

All Pool games will be 55 mins, drop dead finish the
batter
- Bracket games:

6U & 8U: 60 minutes no new inning after 55 mins

10U/12U/14U: 75 minutes no new inning after 70 mins
- Tie Breaker is in effect for bracket games only. Inning will start with the bases loaded and 2 outs. The
last 3 batters from the prior inning should be on 3rd, 2nd, and 1st. After the third tie breaker, a coin
flip will be determined the winner
- Players that arrive late may be added to the bottom of the batting order as long as the team has not gone
through their lineup yet. The umpire and opposing team need to be notified at a plate meeting.
- Teams need to be ready to play 20 minutes before the original start time.
- If a player gets hurt during the tournament the team will not be required to take an out
even if it puts them under the required number of players. Ex. If a 10U team only has 9 players and 1 player
gets hurt during the tournament that team will not take a out for the 9th batter
- If a Championship game begins and is unable to finish due to weather conditions, there will be a coin toss
to determine which team is 1st place and which team is 2nd place.
- Religious exemptions (Sunday play only) will be granted but must be approved by the Tournament Director 2
days prior to the tournament.
- How to Protest: A coach can protest anytime during a game if he/she determines the other team is playing
illegally. A coach can protest anytime the game has officially started (6U-after the first hit, 8U-14U after
the first pitch). However, once the game has ended and the coach has walked off the field he/she can no
longer protest.
ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY IS IN AFFECT AT THE CPYL
COMPLEX.
Any player, manager, coach or fan ejected from a game
must leave the facility immediately. During the suspension the ejected person may not be at the ballpark.
No dogs are allowed at CPYL. If you bring a dog you will be asked to leave and if you refuse your team is
subject to a forfeit of their current game.
Rain Out Refunds:
- Full refund if no games are completed
- 66% refund if one game is completed
- 33% refund if two games are completed
- No Refunds if three games are completed
- A game shall be ruled as official and complete if it is
called by umpires or the tournament director due
to rain, inclement weather, lighting failure, or other reasons beyond our control, provided 3 innings
have been completed.
- If 3 innings have not been completed, the game shall be
suspended, and resumed from that point, when
safe play can be resumed. Elapsed game time shall be recorded, and any remaining game time limit shall
also be resumed from the point of suspension.
